Our site is named ” Flying Horse Sense”  after Pegasus

The Winged Horse of Greek Mythology

(ancient Greek Πήγασος / Pegasos, Latin Pegasus)

Pegasus is one of the well-known mythological creatures in Greek myth, and assumes his share of fame and nobility beside the gods, and heroes of myth and legend.

In Greek mythology, Pegasus is a winged lightning creature fathered by Poseidon, god of the sea, and Medusa, a mortal, and priestess of Athena’s temple. Poseidon was captivated by the great beauty of Medusa, and the couple foolishly consummated their love in the sacred Temple of Athena, the goddess of war, and strategy.

Pegasus was also a friend to the nine Muses, and was instructed by Zeus to transport lightning and thunder from Mount Olympus.

Symbolism of Pegasus

The symbols of Pegasus varies throughout time. This horse-god was associated with power, flight, speed, glory, loyalty, bravery, courage, wealth, wisdom, knowledge, poetry, creative sources that inspired writers, and poets, pottery, solar myths, and spiritual energy that allowed access to the realm of the gods on Mount Olympus.

This site is dedicated to my dad, Othon George  Mantzavinos, a great, virtuous, honest, and principled man who taught me to follow my heart, to be honest no matter what the consequences.

He earned his living by working an honest, plain and simple life.

He was  an embodiment of purity and truthfulness.

I also discovered that he was a very compassionate and kind person and  that the most important thing that he had was us, his family.

Though he may never have said it out loud I know that he truly loved us

and was very proud of what we have become.

We are who we are now because we had a father like him.

He was very strict as a father but that’s only because he cared for us. To his friends he was a very kind person and was always ready to help. He always had a solution to every problem and had his ways of making things simple. He never asked anybody for help but he was a very generous philanthropic, compassionate man, and he never wanted to be acknowledged for anything he did.

When he helped he simply helped.

My father,  never broke his promise once , he stayed true to his word, he did what he said. He never stooped to any meanness or evil. He never liked false  flattery,  he stuck to his  principles  with whatever challenge would come his way.

He was a safe custodian of truth and justice.

He showed strength until the end and still had some enlightening words for me. I made some huge changes to my life and I owe it to my father’s encouragement, strength and tough love advice…

See Dad… I listened….it just took me a while…:)

I miss him and his amazing, wicked  sense of humor!

I am honored and humbled to be one of his daughters!!

Eat, pray, love…by Elizabeth Gilbert

By Elizabeth Gilbert – Penguin (2006) – Paperback -334 pages

This beautifully written, heartfelt memoir touched a nerve among both readers and reviewers. Elizabeth Gilbert tells how she made the difficult choice to leave behind all the trappings of modern American success (marriage, house in the country, career) and find, instead, what she truly wanted from life. Setting out for a year to study three different aspects of her nature amid three different cultures, she discovers  in her travels the true pleasure of nourishment by eating in Italy; the power of prayer in India, and, finally and unexpectedly, the inner peace and balance of true love in Bali.

By turns rapturous and rueful, this wise and funny author  is poised to garner yet more adoring fans.

The Spirit of Butterflies: Myth, Magic, and Art…..

Myths, legends, poetry, art, and dance honor the creature, which is depicted in sacred and secular objects in almost every culture. This beautiful book has 150 full-color images. However, it is more than an art book, for each chapter explores a topic of butterfly lore. In “Butterfly People,” readers learn about individuals and groups who have adopted the butterfly as part of their identity (James McNeill Whistler signed his works with a butterfly). “Butterfly Dance and Cocoon Magic” describes ritual butterfly dance and ceremony in a number of cultures. “Butterfly Soul” explores death and the afterlife. Each of these topics could inspire classroom discussion and student research. While the art attracts readers, the well-researched, engaging text will hold their interest. Spirit of Butterflies crosses academic subject areas as well as cultural areas. Anthropology, ecology, history, art, and literature classes could benefit from this book.

A Dog’s purpose….William Bruce Cameron

William Bruce Cameron

A tail-wagging three hanky boo-hooer, this delightful fiction debut by newspaper columnist Cameron (8 Simple Rules for Marrying My Daughter) proposes that a dog’s purpose might entail being reborn several times. Told in a touching, doggy first-person, this unabashedly sentimental tale introduces Toby, who’s rescued by a woman without a license for her rescue operation, so, sadly, Toby ends up euthanized. He’s reborn in a puppy mill and after almost dying while left in a hot car, he’s saved again by a woman, and he becomes Bailey, a beloved golden retriever, who finds happiness and many adventures. His next intense incarnation is as Ellie, a female German shepherd, a heroic search and rescue dog. But the true purpose of this dog’s life doesn’t become totally clear until his reincarnation as Buddy, a black Lab. A book for all age groups who admire canine courage, Cameron also successfully captures the essence of a dog’s amazing capacity to love and protect.

Michael Newton-Past Life Therapy-Journey of Souls

[yframe url=’’]

[yframe url=’′]

Journey of Souls is a controversial yet inspiring investigation of the big question we all face at one point or another: “What happens after we die?” To find the answer, Newton opens cases from his private practice in which he hypnotically regressed his clients to a point between lives–after death, but before birth. Not only does Newton grapple with reincarnation, the spirit world, and the nature of the human soul, he also tackles equally sticky questions such as “Is there a Heaven and Hell?” and “What are ghosts?” Readers with a penchant for skepticism will balk at the lack of physical evidence to back up the claims in Journey of Souls, but the book remains a reassuring voice, affirming that our existence is not limited to the boundaries of our mortal flesh. –Brian Patterson

Michael Newton’s private practice in Los Angeles includes behavior modification and allegedly helping people get in touch with their spiritual selves. He has developed his own technique of age regression through which he claims he has managed to regress his clients beyond their past-life experiences. He is considered a pioneer in uncovering the afterlife (or the spiritual world), the outcomes of which have been compiled from his many years of clinical research of the soul memory of his clients.  For over 30 years of clinical research and practice, he is one of the earliest and few scientists using a scientific approach to discover and explain soul experiences. He has been the guest on many TV and radio talk shows.

He has been on the faculty of higher educational institutions as a teacher. He has taught and certified practicing hypnotherapists the Life Between Lives training course. As of November 2003, Newton no longer teaches the entire coursework personally and has officially retired from seeing clients.

Journey of Souls

Journey of Souls is the title of the first book by Newton, published in 1994, in which he introduced his own technique in the area of “age regression” therapy. It documents the results of his 35 years of interviews of age regression case studies. His patients were originally seeking hypnotherapy as a therapeutic means. Newton describes that during their continuous visits, a great number of his patients regressed beyond this life and passed through the spirit worlds; through ongoing age regression sessions, these subjects have recalled and revealed their past life experiences and their journey through the spirit world.

Your Children are not Your Children

Famous Khalil Gibran quote from ‘The Prophet’

Gibran portraying Love in painting

Your Children are not Your Children

They are the sons and daughters of life’s longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you,

And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,

For they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls,

For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,

which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.

For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
