Love is…. 12/12/12

Love is our true destiny. We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone,

we find it with another.Thomas Merton

Welcome! Flying Horse Sense is Born!

I decided to combine my love for horses and wisdom sayings into a sacred place where  inspirational quotes, music, poetry,  affirmations, art, dance, spiritual quotes, photography, books, and prayers will inspire and provoke deep soul reflection and spiritual growth!

Our site is named ” Flying Horse Sense”  after Pegasus

The Winged Horse of Greek Mythology

Pegasus:

(ancient Greek Πήγασος / Pegasos, Latin Pegasus)

Pegasus is one of the well-known mythological creatures in Greek myth, and assumes his share of fame and nobility beside the gods, and heroes of myth and legend.

In Greek mythology, Pegasus is a winged lightning creature fathered by Poseidon, god of the sea, and Medusa, a mortal, and priestess of Athena’s temple. Poseidon was captivated by the great beauty of Medusa, and the couple foolishly consummated their love in the sacred Temple of Athena, the goddess of war, and strategy.

Pegasus was also a friend to the nine Muses, and was instructed by Zeus to transport lightning and thunder from Mount Olympus.

Symbolism of Pegasus

The symbols of Pegasus varies throughout time. This horse-god was associated with power, flight, speed, glory, loyalty, bravery, courage, wealth, wisdom, knowledge, poetry, creative sources that inspired writers, and poets, pottery, solar myths, and spiritual energy that allowed access to the realm of the gods on Mount Olympus.

This site is dedicated to my dad, Othon George  Mantzavinos, a great, virtuous, honest, and principled man who taught me to follow my heart, to be honest no matter what the consequences.

He earned his living by working an honest, plain and simple life.

He was  an embodiment of purity and truthfulness.

I also discovered that he was a very compassionate and kind person and  that the most important thing that he had was us, his family.

Though he may never have said it out loud I know that he truly loved us

and was very proud of what we have become.

We are who we are now because we had a father like him.

He was very strict as a father but that’s only because he cared for us. To his friends he was a very kind person and was always ready to help. He always had a solution to every problem and had his ways of making things simple. He never asked anybody for help but he was a very generous philanthropic, compassionate man, and he never wanted to be acknowledged for anything he did.

When he helped he simply helped.

My father,  never broke his promise once , he stayed true to his word, he did what he said. He never stooped to any meanness or evil. He never liked false  flattery,  he stuck to his  principles  with whatever challenge would come his way.

He was a safe custodian of truth and justice.

EVERYONE  LOVED HIM! AND RESPECTED HIM!!.

He showed strength until the end and still had some enlightening words for me. I made some huge changes to my life and I owe it to my father’s encouragement, strength and tough love advice…

See Dad… I listened….it just took me a while…:)

I miss him and his amazing, wicked  sense of humor!

I am honored and humbled to be one of his daughters!!

I LOVE YOU DAD!

To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts…..Henry David Thoreau

We must learn to reawaken and keep ourselves awake, not by mechanical aids, but by an infinite expectation of the dawn, which does not forsake us even in our soundest sleep. I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by a conscious endeavor. It is something to be able to paint a particular picture, or to carve a statue, and so to make a few objects beautiful; but it is far more glorious to carve and paint the very atmosphere and medium through which we look, which morally we can do. To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!

The wondrous moment of our meeting… by Alexander Pushkin

The wondrous moment of our meeting…

Still I remember you appear

Before me like a vision fleeting,

A beauty’s angel pure and clear.

In hopeless ennui surrounding
The worldly bustle, to my ear
For long your tender voice kept sounding,
For long in dreams came features dear.

Time passed. Unruly storms confounded
Old dreams, and I from year to year
Forgot how tender you had sounded,
Your heavenly features once so dear.

My backwoods days dragged slow and quiet —
Dull fence around, dark vault above —
Devoid of God and uninspired,
Devoid of tears, of fire, of love.

Sleep from my soul began retreating,
And here you once again appear
Before me like a vision fleeting,
A beauty’s angel pure and clear.

In ecstasy my heart is beating,
Old joys for it anew revive;
Inspired and God-filled, it is greeting
The fire, and tears, and love alive.

Accept everything about yourself, You are you and that is the beginning and the end–no apologies, no regrets.

no regrets

Conquer the fear……
